Harbin Engineering University (HEU) is located near the Coast of Songhua River in Harbin, a famous city with beautiful scenery in Northeast China. HEU is China#s only national famous university that combines an engineering focus with the science, management, and arts of the shipping industry. With a very strong technical reserve in many research areas on ship engineering and naval engineering, the university has become an important base for scientific research in the areas of national defense, sea and ocean development, and nuclear power application. Established in 1953, HEU has been named PLA Military Engineering Institute, named Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute in 1970, and changed the name into Harbin Engineering University in 1994. HEU has had the honor of being listed in the national "211 project" (to develop 100 key universities in the 21st century by government) since the initiation of the project as well as one of the universities have "Graduate School" and "National Science Park ".
The HEU campus covers an area of 1.25 million square meters and has 18 colleges or departments and one graduate school. In 1981, HEU became one of the few universities that had the authority to award Master and Doctoral Degrees. Now there are 10 post-doctoral mobile research stations, 31 disciplines conferring doctoral degrees, 110 disciplines conferring master#s degrees (including MBA), and 51 specialties for Bachelors. The teaching and administrative staff numbers almost 2,600, including 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and one academician of the Chinese Academy of Science.HEU has 194 tutors for doctoral students, more than 900 professors and associate professors, as well as about 25,000 students, with 7000 graduated students Aiming to build up creative, high-qualified and excellent students and to develop high-level scientific research-oriented university with distinctive characters and established fame, HEU puts emphasis on the development of international cooperation and academic exchange, and has made extensive exchange and cooperation efforts with more than 180 influential university and scientific research institutions in 30 countries, such as the United States, Japan, France, Germany, Italy and Russia.

Mail student#s completed Application Form along with entrance application, passport photocopy, diploma certificate photocopy and relative course grades to Foreign Affairs Office. For students who applied for master or doctoral degree, must provide with student#s degree photocopy, topic of graduation essay and the essay abstract plus a recommendation letter by previous school#s professor.
